Project BlendVision product line

Year 2020 - 2021

Agency KKStream Ltd.

BlendVision is a SAAS-like video streaming service platform to help clients encode, live stream, or create their own streaming service. We are committed to find the easiest and lightest solutions to help our clients achieve the tasks with a few steps, and with a less budget.

BLENDVISION KALEIDO

In the past few years, we have made streaming products to help our clients run their own streaming service. Building a streaming product can be costly for small businesses and becomes the greatest barrier for them. Therefore we decided to create a video streaming tool to help our business partners get their products ready for the market within just a few steps..

CHALLENGE

Video streaming CMS tools are usually complex for they have to fit different technical or structural requirements. Therefore our challenge was to design the simplest flow to upload videos, manage content, and publish service products, while keeping the flexibility for professional purposes.

RESEARCH & USABILITY STUDY

Video streaming CMS is a relatively new area in the market, each competitor’s product looks and functions differently than others.

LEARN FROM WHAT WE HAVE CREATED

We reviewed the previous CMS tools we built for video streaming, and trimmed the features to make the whole tool less complex.

LEARN WHAT OTHERS HAVE DONE

We Competitors’ products as a user and sought opportunity points and do-not’s.

LEARN FROM THE USERS

We interviewed content managers to know what they expect from the next-gen CMS. (After we release a version, we also go back to them to do user tests.)

GOAL

KEEP IT SIMPLE

Something important we found from a good tool was simplicity. Clear user flows and less redundant elements are very crucial to the UX.

MAKE IT SCALABLE

We know that not all the customers need all of the features. Therefore we modularised our product. It also make expanding features easier.

MAKE IT FLEXIBLE

Business models in video streaming are quite variable. We were aiming to provide our customers all the features they need, while keeping flexibility of customisation.

USER FLOW & STRUCTURE

With all the information we had, we started with the data structure. Product owners, developers, designers worked closely to figure out the best solution with the user flow. We divided the whole flow into 3 sections: create content, manage content, and publish product. With the usr flow we could sketch and wireframe our product.

Design System

To speed up development and design process, we set up a thoughtful design system for designers and developers. This ensures that different product teams can make consistent result and share common knowledges.

Design: BlendVision Kaleido

We trimmed the uploading flow from our encoding product: Kaleido Loom and made it easier for content editors to use. With the least steps they can upload a bunch of videos and subtitles.

With our experiences in streaming, we interviewed content editors and ran test to create a smooth work flow. One of out goal was also create a clear work space when they are using our product.

To keep our product light and scalable, we provide templates for editors to create their own app’s appearance, while giving them some customisations settings to match their branding image.

BlendVision Moment

BlendVision is to help event holders to live stream videos on their own platform, with features such as stickers and Q&A to allow them interacting with their audience. In this product, we focused more on the audience’s side to ensure they all feel engaged during the event.

BlendVision Loom

BlendVision Loom is an automatic encoding product. As a professional tool, it provides a lot of different detailed settings for different clients. Therefore it was important to guide the users through all the settings and the encoding process. It was also very crucial for them to see the current status of encoding and the usage of service.
